Taichung City's Lantern Festival is over, and the City Government has decided to strengthen efforts in beautifying Taichung Park. Several hundred Brocarded Carps are placed in the park's lake, and lotuses, grass, and seasonal flowers are also added to the park for more beauty.

This year’s Lantern Festival was held in Taichung Park and attracted huge crowds of people. Taichung Park is famous for its lake as well as the plants and flowers along the lake. Many visitors come here for the enjoyment of rowing boats on the lake whilst enjoying the beautiful flowers. And the park was quite badly damaged with so many visitors trampling over the grounds day and night.

The Construction Bureau’s Landscape Engineer Department has begun reconstruction immediately after the Lantern Festival. Apart from putting new grass on and planting seasonal flowers, it was also decided that 500 Brocarded Carps would be added to the lake. These carps are all above 20cm in length. The Landscape Engineer Department expressed that placing carps in the lake allows citizens to enjoy the beauty of these fish in the water, which can also be seen from the Zhong Shan Bridge and Zhong Zheng Bridge.
