Bus and Public Transportation Companies Advised to Improve Service Quality—City Government Volunteers Monitor through Indefinite Patrolling(2006-06-30)

Released from the Government Information Office

2006, June 30

The City Government has received many complaints from citizens about Taichung's bus system, in which buses do not stop at the appropriate stop signs and lag in arrival. The Department of Transportation in Taichung has gathered the help of social workers between the age range of 16 and 65. This group of volunteers will serve as a unit to help monitor and improve Taichung's bus system by recording public transport situations and reporting to the Department of Transportation.

According to the Department of Transportation, any citizen of either sex who is between the age of 16 and 65, in healthy mental and physical condition, and possesses virtues of patience, love, and a sense of responsibility, can sign up as a social worker at the Department of Transportation. The deadline is August 15. The first period will recruit 20 volunteers who will serve for 5 months, and the second recruit will be decided according to the capacity and need of the projects involved.

Sign ups can be made through e-mail, post mail, or at the Department of Transportation. The sign up e-mail is p3214@tccg.gov.tw. Those who are eligible for social work will be contacted through telephone or e-mail from the Department of Public Transportation.
