Two mass movements took place on the 23 night this month in Taichung. Fortunately, no causality happened during the movements and set a great example for the other cities. Mayor Hu expressed his gratitude to the smooth handling of the activities by the police, the leaders of the movements and the local representatives. He hopes that putting one in the police officer's shoe, similar mass political movements can be avoided.

Mayor Hu said that the way the Taichung government coped with the movements can be referred to as an example for other cities. He also said that he's not against mass movements. However, he thinks that issues, which involve the benefits of people in Taiwan, should be more effective if the movements are taken place in Taipei since the police force in Taipei is more capable in terms of its size and experience. Given the size of the police force in Taichung is not enough, so if the movements launch over weekends, the police have to sacrifice their family time. Mayor Hu expressed his deepest gratitude of the swift handing of the movements to the rational leaders of the movements, the local representatives and the police.
