Mayor Joaquin Lim of Walnut City, USA, made a particular stop at the City Hall to call on Mayor Hu during his business trip in Taiwan, and representing Chinese communities in southern California, he offered consolations and concerns to the Mayor and his wife. Mayor Hu was very touched and thankful for these sentiments.

Mayor Lim said that he had first met Mayor Hu in 1997 and had kept wishing to see Hu again. Visiting Mayor Hu on this business trip to Taiwan pleased him a lot.

According to Mayor Lim, he would have liked to stay longer to explore Taichung City, but had to hide in his hotel instead due to a typhoon hitting.

Otherwise, Mayor Hu reminded him that the strong typhoon with the 17th flight wind level should keep people inside, and joked to Mayor Lim that since he lived in such a high tower, he might feel some shaking caused by the typhoon. Mayor Lim soon replied that this kind of experience was not needed, and he would like to shift to the lower floors because his wife was timid, drawing laughs all around.

Both wished to get together soon, instead of waiting for another 10 years to pass.
