2007 International Alzheimer Day: “GOGO Back Remembering” Promotional Fair(2007-09-16)

  In order to remind society about the importance of focusing its concern on the Alzheimer issue, DCA held a promotional fair, GOGO Back Remembering in Taichung Fenglo Sculpture Park on Sep. 16tth, attracting thousands of parents leading their kids, and senior family members to participate in the events. Deputy Mayor Hsiao dressed himself as Doctor Hsiao to proclaim people’s concerns over senior family members and the necessity of conducting prior prevention and treatment. 

  According to Deputy Major Hsiao, there are 140, 000 Alzheimer patients all over Taiwan, with 5000 in Taichung City, revealing it as a problem that simply cannot be neglected. Early treatment can minimize future serious problems. He expected denizens to pay more attention to senior citizens and Alzheimer patients in their families and to encourage them to engage in outdoor activities.

  There were a variety of performances on site and charity booths supported by charity groups and individuals, as well as relevant promotion procedures from the police bureau, social affairs bureau, and public health bureau, such as finger print filing, application of love hand chain, and long-term care.

  Employees of China Telecom, in cooperation with Deputy Mayor Hsiao and Chair Ger of DCA provided a dramatic presentation on the behaviors of Alzheimer patients, to better acquaint denizens concerning Alzheimer’s disease.
