Taichung City Government signed a joint development contract for the Wurih-Wenxin-Beitun line, and 8 stations, with Taipei City Government on Dec. 12th, 2007, estimated to create an economic scale up to NT 15 billion dollars. 

The success of land development for MRT stations is key to the MRT construction and city development. In order to promote station development among landlords, investors, city government, and all city residents, the Taichung City Government was actively seeking teams with rich professional experience.

Currently, Taipei City is the only one with an MRT system, and the first one to have joint development projects with the MRT stations, which had 22 joint development areas along the MRT line, and was quite successful in bringing opportunities for business and real estates along the lines.

Under Mayor Hu’s leadership of the City administrative team, Mayor Hu and the Taipei City Government agreed to assist Taichung City in joint developments along the MRT. Mayor Hu, at the signature ceremony, stated that Taichung City’s choice was definitely correct and the best one. Mayor Hu revealed that, the MRT joint projects had advantages of bringing efficiency and prosperity, which were reflected in Taipei City. The experiences shall be shared with, and transferred to, other cities that can enjoy the benefits. Many cities were struggling for technique support of Taipei City, and Taichung got the first contract.

Taipei and Taichung cooperation was the first time that Taipei City transfered its accumulated experiences to another city, as well as the chance for talent exchanges for railroad engineering, thereby, creating a model of win-win situations. Today, after the signature ceremony in ChungHsiao - FuShing Station, the 2 mayors led councilmen and directors of city governments to explore the successful experiences of the ChungHsiao - FuShing Station and SOGO department store. The Taichung City Orchestra performed 3 songs, and the Dance Department of the Taiwan Athletic College offered traditional Taiwanese folk dances, receiving applause from all VIPs on the site.
