Countdown parties hosting people bidding farewell to the year 2007 and welcoming the year 2008 took place all over Taiwan. As passionate as the years before, the Taichung City Government hosted Fun Music, a pop concert featuring several well-known artists such as Gary Cao, Cyndai Wang, Lollipop, Rene Liu, Afalean Lu, JiuZe Li, San Jiao COOL, Awaking, Champion, WOW, The Big Hits, and DA Mouth. The artists took turns leading the masses in the Fun Music enjoyment. In the new year, the City Government succeeded in providing the local population with the most popular and abundant music for the jamboree. The event lasted for three hours, and the whole city went into a frenzy for the music. 

　　Mayor Hu emphasized that Taichung City won the 2007 World Best Cultural and Art City of the World Leadership Forum Award at the end of last year, portraying the city as an exquisite and cultural city. The Roundness Theater has received 4.3 million in attendance during the past 1.5 years since being dedicated for use. This has resulted in raising the citizens’ participation in cultural events. Director Huang of Department of Cultural Affairs expected to conduct pop music events and promote cultural industries in the City with Taiwan’s youngest population, on average, as well as providing proper leisure programs for juveniles. With the support of all residents, the Department promised continued efforts in bringing more diverse, as well as respectable, cultural and art events in the coming year, requesting all citizens’ patience for those.
