Mayor Jason Hu throws the ball to start the Red-White Star Contest and may the fans enjoy this game(2008-07-20)

Chinese Professional Baseball VeeTV Red-White Star Contest 2008 was inaugurated in Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Field on July 20th, which was started formally after Mayor Jason Hu threw the ball to start the game. Major Hu expected the games to be enjoyed by fans.

Regarding the Red-White Star Contest, the Star White was comprised of Uni Lions, La New Bears and Sinon Red Bulls and the Star Red was comprised of Brother Elephants, Chinatrust Whales and dmedia T-REX; the head coach of Star White was Vicent Lu of Uni Lions and the head coach of Star Red was Guanhuei Wang of Brother Elephants.

The base running game prior to contest was so furious that the game was finally settled by 0.46 second. The respective 9 runners of two teams were equal and the final runners were Sheng-Wei Wang, King of Stealing of League and Long-Yi Huang, EZ; King of Stealing deserved the reputation. The fast legs of Wang won the game and he stole to home; therefore, Star Red won the champion of base running game for the first time in 4 years.

The fans who entered the field with tickets may attain a lottery card; it is possible to win NT$100,000 for those pass the four barriers. If 5 people win the prize of NT$100,000 will be allotted equally; if more than 5 win, then the 5 winners will be randomly selected to split the prize.

In the end, Star Red beat Star White by 10-6. Star Red remained undefeated for 5 consecutive contests with the champion of base running game, so it was indeed the biggest winner this year. Yuan-Chia Chen won the MVP of one game with a homerun and attained NT$30,000.
