The “2008 World Understanding and Peace Day” celebration, hosted by Rotary3460, took place at Jin-Guo Green Corridor today. The diversity of culture-exchange activities including traditional opera, talent shows and an open food stall has attracted a lot of people to participate in the celebration.

Mayor Hu expressed his gratitude to Rotary for the arrangement of this international culture-exchange event. He indicated that Taiwanese and foreign friends can exchange and their cultures with each other through these meaningful activities. Further, the celebration has put Taichung on an international stage and made its dream come true!

Rotary indicated that the style of the celebration was like a green preservation carnival presenting the tradition and custom of 5 cities/counties in the central region. Meanwhile, foreign friends presented their cultures through via a cakewalk of traditional costumes, talent shows and foods stalls.

This year, the participation of this international friendship communication involved foreign exchange students from 14 countries including Cezch Republic, Paraguay, Vietnam, Japan, Philippines, Thailand and Poland and the shows included the traditional operas “Flower’s dance” and “Downhill”, a music ensemble, traditional PhilippinesPhilippine, traditional costume shows, flute and guitar performances, waltz dance, Indonesian songs, and Russian dance. Rather Other than that, the variety of foods also satisfied people’s appetite and provided a full and relaxed relaxing afternoon to everyone.
