In order to promote the Economic/Trade and Tourism development of Hangchow, a delegation of 23 representatives visited Taichung City on March 22. The delegation was led by Wu Cheng-huHu (Vice Chairman of Hangchow City Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) and Wu Chien-te Te (The Deputy Director of Hangchow City National People's Congress ). The delegation took a flight from Hangchow via Hong Kong and landed in Taichung Ching Chuang Kang Airport. The officers of Taichung City Government including Mu Kui-hsinHsin (Director of the Department of Civil Affairs), Chu Huei-lanLan (Director of the Department of Economic Development), Tsao Mei-liangLiang (Director of the Department of Information ) and the officers of Nantou County Government��"Chen Tsao-wanWan (Director of the Department of Agriculture) and Hung Wen-nengNeng (Director of Tourism) welcomed the delegation in the airport. 　 　

Mu Kui-hsin Hsin said that Ching Chuang Kang Airport was a hub of international flights., Butbut there were only 2 flights to the Chinese cities of China--Xiameng and Hangchow. He has visited Hangchow before. He thought that the life in Hangchow was as very cozy as Taichung. He believes that the members of the delegation would will feel the same in Taichung.

Chen Tsao-wan said that they have arranged a tour to Nantou on March 23. The itinerary included visiting Chung Tai Chan Monastery, Sun Moon Lake and some villages in Nantou. Chen also mentioned that Nantou has joined a trade fair in Zhejiang last year. The Nantou agriculture products created sales of about 3 to 4 million RMB in at that the fair and they also they signed some contracts from some local companies in Zhejiang which hopefully would create more revenue for the farmers in Nantou.

Chen told the delegation that Lee Chao Ching, the Magistrate of Nantou, would lead a delegation to Hangchow in the near future and conclude a “sister lakes” tready treaty for the Sun Moon Lake in Nantou and the West Lake in Hangchow, soon. He believed that Nantou and Hangchow would build up a closer relation, soon.

Wu Cheng-hu Hu said Hangchow City was a city with long history and plentiful sightseeing resources located in the south-eastern coast of China. Hangchow has specific ties with both Taichung City and Nantou County. Since the Taichung-Hangchow direct flight launched in 2008, the interchange was getting closer. He invited local citizens to visited Hangchow for tourism, investment and to start up new business.

The delegation from Hangchow is looking for opportunity opportunities to build up an alliance with Taiwan. The members of the delegation had have seen that middle Taiwan has many highly potential opportunities in business, tourism and investment. They would collect more information of investment and tourism resources in middle Taiwan and promote the most popular “tourism coupon” in of Hangchow in Taiwan to attract Taiwan visitors.

On March 23, the delegation will visit Taichung City Government and join the “2009 Taichung-Hangchow Economic, Trade and Tourism Affairs Seminar” and discuss the possibilities to build alliances on economic, trade and tourism alliances to create a new phase of cross-straits cooperation.
