The Eden Social Welfare Foundation will host a charity concert on September 13 in Taichung City. The musicians include the visually impaired Taiwanese and Korean pianists Che-cheng Hsu and Hee Ah Lee and other musicians with disabilities. Vice Mayor, Hsiao Chia-chi, said that he will buy concert tickets to give his support and he urges the citizens to donate to the charity concerts. People who donate will get free tickets.

The Vice Mayor quoted the word of Archimedes, an ancient Greek mathematician, “Give me a place to stand on, and I will move the Earth” to ask people to donate and provide those with disabilities with resources and support to help them to contribute their talents. Hsiao and the guests of the press conference donated money to buy tickets for the concert which will be held on September 13 at Ming Der Girl’s Senior High School.

The internationally acknowledged visually impaired pianist Che-cheng Hsu, flutist Ming-Hsiu and the Eden Ambassador, National Veterinary Hospital Chains CEO -Dao-jay Chen presented shows in the press conference on September 5. Hsu was a street artist before. His show entertained and much impressed the audience. Tsai and Chen also played the flute and violin in the press conference. They told the press that they were eager to play with Che-cheng Hsua and Hee-ah Lee. During the concert, everyone in the audience put on blindfolds to experience the blindness of the visually impaired. The music touched their hearts.

On August 23rd, Hee-ah Lee visited Taiwan to promote the concert with Che-cheng Hsu. Though most of the media covered the event, enough donations had not been raised; less than the 10% of the target. The fund is for the “occupational skills training project for those with disabilities” of the Eden Social Welfare Foundation. Therefore, Taichung City Government hosted the press conference to urges the citizens to join the concert to boost the raising of funds.

Due to the economic recession, people tend to cut expenses. Most of the social welfare organizations are forced to diversify the source of funding and cut down administrative fees. Eden has developed many new ways to raise funds, such as mobile phone donations, coin box donation and internet donation. For example, TWGSM mobile phone service users can dial 518005 to donate money to Eden.

The concert will be held on September 13 at Ming Der Girl’s Senior High School. We invite you to join the charity concert to support those with disabilities to cultivate their occupational skills. Ticket sales will end on August 31. Each donator who donates over NTD 800 will get one free ticket, and an additional T-shirt for donations over NTD 1000.
