December 3rd is Disabled Persons Day. Most countries celebrate the day with many campaigns. The Social Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government will launch its campaign from 13:30 to 17:00 on November 28th (Sat.) in the motorcycle parking lot of Wen Hsin Forest Park. Many disabled persons will present singing, dancing and instrumental shows on the stage, and the organizer has arranged many stalls to promote the empowerment concepts of disabled persons and charity sales. Please participate and have a wonderful weekend afternoon with your friends and family. 

The “International Disabled Persons Day” campaign will be hosted by the Middle Taiwan Office of Eden Social Foundation. The theme of the campaign is “The Special Olympics”??"everyone should follow the spirits of athletes??"“Never give up and try the best in every game in our life”.

Chang Kuo-huei, Director of Social Affairs Bureau, gave the athletes a “medal shaped” score board during the press conference and encouraged them to conquer the games this Saturday. There are 5 stations of games. The athlete who passes the 5 stations first will be the winner. Li Kun-min, Deputy Director of the Social Affairs Bureau, participated in the arm wrestling game in the news conference and lost. He said that Master of the Game was very hard to beat and everyone would be welcome to join the game.

The United Nations announced that 1981 was the Disabled Persons Year and passed a resolution that December 3rd is “International Disabled Persons Day” in October of 1992. Therefore, many countries celebrate the day with activities to promote the concepts. The slogans of “International Disabled Persons Day” each year are different. This year, the slogan of the campaign in Taichung City is “No Fear in Love.”

To enhance a better understanding of disabled persons, Taichung City Government invites citizens, disabled persons and anyone who cares about the issue to join the 2009campaign. The organizer will arrange “Disabled Olympics” games, which will be hosted by disabled persons. You can join the games to experience being disabled and how they conquer their physical barriers. The winners will get a pen set as a prize.

The Social Affairs Bureau welcomes you to join the campaign on November 28th and pay attention to and care for disabled persons and treat them as normal people.
