In honor of Houli's saxophone legacy, the Taichung city government's Cultural Affairs Bureau has planned an international competition for sax players this October, without any limitations on age or nationality. The first place can get prizes as high as 30,000 USD!

Sign-up letters must be postmarked by Aug. 30. There are 3 stages, contestants who pass the first phase (submit DVD) will join a second-phase competition with finals on Oct. 17 and 19. More information is as below:
a. First Review
The first review will be held on September 5-15, 2012. Fifty contestants will be selected for the semi-final round.
The results will be posted on the website on September 15, 2012. Please watch for the results.
b. Semi-final Round
The semi-final Round will be held in Houli, Taichung on October 17, 2012.
The jurors will select ten out of fifty contestants for the final round.
c. Final Round
The final round will be held in Houli, Taichung on October 19, 2012.
The jurors will choose one winner from the 10 candidates.
The winner will be announced immediately after the competition.
d. Award Ceremony and Performance
The award ceremony and performance will be held at the 2012
Taichung Jazz Festival on October 20, 2012. (19:00-20:00 TWT)

The winner of the competition will be awarded by USD 30,000. The second and the third place will also be awarded by USD 5,000 and USD 3,000 respectively. In addition, the first five contestants will be given high quality saxophone made by Houli instrument producers.
