Taichung Local Tax Bureau expressed that out of love and caring for the mentally or physically disabled, the Bureau has cooperated with Taichung Social Welfare Bureau to exempt the license tax for vehicles of the disabled, which will immediately take effect once the Physically and Mentally Disabled Manual is obtained. Those who have already paid most of the license tax for the year can be refunded after providing a copy of the cover of their bank account book.
　　The Bureau has further indicated that the disabled traditionally have to go back and forth to local district offices, hospitals, the Social Welfare Bureau and the Local Tax Bureau to apply for the manual and relevant welfare services, which requires a lot of time and effort; moreover, they usually do not receive the tax exemption until years after the manual is actually obtained.
　　To provide more convenient services for the disabled, the Bureau especially offers one-stop service for all welfare programs and the addition of the“Free License Service for Vehicles owned and used by the disabled” service has been specifically discussed with the Social Welfare Bureau; once the disabled are issued Physically and Mentally Disabled Manuals, they will become exempt from license tax, starting from the date of issue. If the tax for the year has already been paid, it can be refunded after providing a copy of the account book cover.
