To enhance protection of personal data and ensure better government service, the Household Registration and Conscription units of Taichung City Government have completed their Information Security Management System (ISMS), which has won the BSi ISO 27001 international certification, the only winner in Taiwan. The ISMS achievement presentation and certification ceremony was held on the 4th floor Meeting Room of Taichung City Hall at 10:00 — 12:00, Tuesday, December 10, 2013.
Wang Chiu-dong (王秋冬), Director-general of Civil Affairs Bureau, said, “To protect personal data and enhance the quality of public service, the Civil Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government has started to update its household facilities and processes and strengthened its personnel management since 2008. We got the BSi ISO 27001 international certification in 2009 and is the first household unit to win such certification in the country.
“To expand the scope of security control, we have since 2011 promoted the ISMS to the original 8 district offices of former Taichung City and the original 21 district offices and household registration offices of former Taichung County. We have even completed the BSi ISO 27001 international certification for all our household registration and conscription units in 2013. Taichung City Government is thus the only one in Taiwan to have obtained such a certification for all its household registration and conscription units.”
Director-general Wang said further, “Our household registration and conscription units are highly praised for their information security operations, but our colleagues should not feel complacent. Instead, we must continue to provide dedicated service to our people. We should strive for our up most. We should be innovative so as to provide our citizens with the safest, the best, and the most efficient household registration and conscription service.”
