Police Helped an Amnesiac Find Way Home with only a Seal

Having received a report that a man nearly 50 years old suffering from amnesia was wandering in the neighborhood of Zhongtai West Road, North District, Taichung City, policemen helped the missing guy find way home in a very short period of time with only a seal.

Patrol sergeant Ho O Wen (何O文) and policeman Su O Long (蘇O隆) of Liren Police Station, 2nd Precinct, Taichung City Government Police Department, received a report at around 19:00 on December 10th that an old man, surnamed Ko, born in 1955, suffered from amnesia could not identify himself with his own name, address, and any contact details and needed assistance on Zhongtai West Road, North District, Taichung City.

After arriving at the scene, the policemen calmed Ko down first and then brought him back to the police station to take care of him. The policemen tried to look for any possible trace of identity from Ko, including documents, telephone number, and others but found only a seal. Copying down the name on the seal and putting it to the national household data query system, the policemen found more than 20 accounts with the same name. They then used two variables, namely age between 50 and 60 and household registration in Taichung City, for further comparison and found one man fit the criterion. They then made an enquiry of his photo and confirmed it was exactly Mr. Ko. The policemen immediately contacted Ko’s wife surnamed Liao.

Ms. Liao said her husband Ko, who suffers from amnesia, sneaked out that night. Unable to find her husband, Ms. Liao was just about to report the missing case to the police station before she got the phone call from the police. The overjoyed Ms. Liao was very grateful to the verification effort and attentive care of the police and promised to keep an eye on her husband to prevent him from getting lost again.
