Love-building Passport Program Needs Your support

To encourage single-parent families to take part in the "Love-building Passport Program", Taichung Huludun Family Welfare Service Center (臺中市葫蘆墩家庭福利服務中心) has been adopting the "points for incentives" approach and looking forward to donation of television sets, laptop computers and others as incentives. So far, 357 single-parent families have joined the "Love-building Passport Program," and Lue Jen-der (呂建德), Director-general of Social Affairs Bureau urges people to donate reward items for this meaning activity.

The Social Affairs Bureau held a press conference to promote the "Love-building Passport Program” at the Yangming Municipal Building on May 12. Director-general Lue led the participants to chant slogans to show support for the vulnerable populations and the enterprises making contributions. Mr. Zhang Zheng-zong (張正宗) of Hans Tool Industrial Co., Ltd (向得行股份有限公司) donated television sets, laptop computers, and cameras, while Mr. Chen Jian-fu (陳建福) of Ying Song Construction Co., Ltd (盈淞營造事業有限公司) also donated such home appliances as refrigerators, washing machines, and rice cookers.It is hoped that more people will join the ranks to make contributions.

Director-general Lue said, “In cooperation with a number of local entrepreneurs, the Huludun Family Welfare Service Center (葫蘆墩家庭福利服務中心)is able to collect computer products and home appliances for the ‘points for incentives’ plan to encourage single-parent families to take part in the ‘Love-building Passport Program’. 357 single-parent families have joined the program, and 44 certification activities have been held.”

“On behalf of the city government, I would like to thank those business firms and people who have made contributions,” added Director-general Lue. “Your love, accumulated little by little,will help single-parent families to turn around economically and educationally. I would like also urge our citizens to donate even more items to support this meaningful activity.”

Commissioned by the Social Affairs Bureau to manage the Huludun Family Welfare Service Center in Taichung, the Taiwan Sunshine Women's Association (臺灣陽光婦女協會) has discovered that single-parent families are in urgent need of resources and support systems and has thus provided single-parent families with such services as growth camps for children and parents and respite care, the Social Affairs Bureau said.

Chen Shu-yuan (陳淑圓), Secretary-General of Taiwan Sunshine Women's Association, said, “The ‘points for incentives’ plan is set up to encourage single parents to attend activities and lectures that our Center holds. Many families have already collected enough points to exchange notebook computers for their study and business start up.”
