Promotional Video for Taichung Home of Hope

Taichung Home of Hope (台中市希望家園) is located on Shung Hing Street in Tali District. The land base was where stood the former "Jin Bali Community," which was completely destroyed by "921 earthquake" in 1999 and 80 residents were killed, claiming the largest number of casualties in a complex residential building at that time. The piece of land was later sold to the government in a “land exchange” deal.

The site was first developed into the Jincheng Community Park (金城社區公園) in 2011. Subsequently, the Taichung City Government constructed a daycare center to house a sheltered workshop and to provide daycare and accommodation to persons with disabilities in 2013. The Center aims to "provide care for the disadvantaged" and "give new value to life" and it also injects new vitality into this disaster-stricken area.

To provide better welfare services to persons with disabilities, this Taichung Home of Hope will provide daycare service to about 60 people, full-day accommodation to about 30 people, and jobs in the sheltered workshop to about 12 people in Tali District, East District, South District, Wufeng District and Taiping District.

This program will be carried out in an OT (operation and transfer) approach. The commissioned operator from the private sector must strive to achieve the following three objectives:
1. Provision of high-quality day care service to persons with disabilities
2. Provision of high-quality full-day accommodation to persons with disabilities
3. Provision of jobs in the sheltered workshop to persons with disabilities so as to foster their skills to support their own life
