Benefits of Paying Tax by Bank Transfer

A taxpayer can use his/her own or his/her spouse’s or dependent’s deposit account at a financial institution or the post office to pay such local taxes as vehicle license tax, property tax, and land value tax. Please be reminded that the taxpayer must complete his/her application two months before each of the taxes is levied, said the Local Tax Bureau of Taichung City Government.

A taxpayer who wishes to apply for tax payment by bank transfer please do so at a financial institution or one of the eight branch offices of Local Tax Bureau by presenting the depositor’s account book, his/her own seal, identity card, and a photocopy of the most recent tax payment receipt, said the Local Tax Bureau. He/she can also apply for tax payment by bank transfer by filling the depositor’s information into the engagement letter attached to the local tax notice and then sending to the Local Tax Bureau without placing a postage the completed application form stamped with the depositor’s designated seal at the financial institution.

Local Tax Bureau says that before a tax levy, it will send a notice to remind the taxpayer to put aside a sufficient amount of money in the bank account before the due day and after the tax payment, it will send a receipt certificate to the taxpayer. “This is a safe and convenient way to pay your local tax and you do not have to worry about any overdue penalty. Thus, we encourage everyone to make use of this mechanism,” added the Local Tax Bureau.
