EPB to Pilot Test Drinking Water Sampling at Homes of Remote Areas

Currently, people who apply for water quality testing should first register at the service counter of Environmental Protection Bureau (EPB) of Taichung City Government and then submit samples by themselves at a later day. Considering that this 2-step procedure may cause inconvenience to people living in the remote areas, the EPB will conduct a pilot study to sample drinking water at the homes of residents in nine administrative districts, including Xinshe, Dongshi, Wufeng, Longjing, Shalu, Daan, Dajia, Wuci and Qinshui. The pilot study will last for 6 months from July to December 2015, during which residents can apply for a water-quality test every Monday and the EPB will then send staff to collect drinking-water samples from the applicant’s home.

People living in the above-mentioned nine administrative districts can make such an application and pay the service charge at the Nantun District Office of Environmental Inspection Division (No. 409, Section 2, Nantun Road, Nantun District, Taichung City) or Environmental Services counter on the first floor of Fengyuan Yangming Office (No.36, Yangming Street, Fengyuan District, Taichung City). The EPB will then schedule time and send a professional staff to collect drinking water samples at the applicant’s home. If this pilot experiment is well received, the EPB will consider expanding it to the entire city, said the EPB.

The EPB also called upon people to regularly check and clean their water towers to ensure the quality and safety of drinking water, especially after a heavy rain. If you have any question related to the application for testing water quality, please call 04-23807637.
