One day before Women's Day, the Social Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government today (the 6th day of the month) held the “Gender Equality Great Examination” at Taichung Park. Deputy Mayor Pan Wen-Chung struck the “Gender Equality Big Gong” and led all examinees to make vows, open exam papers, and write with flying strokes. Whoever passes the exam will get the “Gender Equality Qualification Certificate” and “Gender Equality Small Bag” in lovable appearance to demonstrate excellent performance on gender equality.
The Social Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government today held the “Gender Equality Examination” at Taichung Park. Its activities contained performances, prize drawing, pass through, DIY for Gender Equality Wen Chang Lantern, Gender Equality Q & A, and so on. Deputy Mayor Pan Wen-Chung, legislator Huang Kuo-Shu, Social Affairs Bureau Director Lu Chien-Te, and Taiwan Association of Read and Social Care Director Huang Jui-Ju all attended the scene to strike the “Gender Equality Gong” and take the exam. The exam results showed that Deputy Mayor Pan got a full score of 100.
Deputy Mayor Pan indicated that the Chinese character “Good” is made up of two characters of “girl” and “boy,” representing that women and men should be treated equally and both parties can be good together.
The Social Affairs Bureau noted that the City Government held the “Gender Equality Great Examination” for the first time last year and received an enthusiastic response. It was a pioneering work to implement the gender equality in the life. So once again it was held for the people who were too late to register last year to have the opportunity to participate. Not only the “Gender Equality Qualification Certificate” may be gained, but also the “Gender Equality Small Bag” in lovable appearance may be received.
There is also a pass through game in the activity venue. As teaching through lively activities, the citizens can understand women's interests and gender equality.
Apart from Gender Equality Great Examination, the City Government also launched the “Gender Equality Exercise Book” this year, of which the contents focused on the seven chapters of Gender Equality Policy Guidelines promulgated by the country in 2011 with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and popular gender issues nowadays such as Note on Same-sex Couple Households. To encourage society to overcome gender stereotypes and discrimination.
