Three teachers from Ling Tung University led six students to sacrifice their winter vacation and devote themselves to public welfare. They collaborated with Power of Freedom Internet Technology Co., Ltd. and used Google panoramic shooting technique to visit 61 social welfare organizations in Taichung, successfully connecting the actual views of the environment for the social welfare institutions to Google Map, providing sweet services to the vast public. The Social Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government presented an award certificate yesterday (21st) in appreciation of the endeavors of Ling Tung University and Power of Freedom Internet Technology Co., Ltd. for actualizing the integration of technology with social welfare.

Power of Freedom Internet Technology Co., Ltd. and Ling Tung University voluntarily contacted the Social Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government to propose the project collaboration for this Google panoramic view service for the social welfare institutions. Chung-Jung Wu, head of Department of Digital Content Design, professor Chia-Lun Hsu, 5 students including Li-Hsinag Chen, Lan-Hsin Cheng, Yu-Cheng Lai, Chung-Yen Liu and Hsiang-Chun Kuan from Department of Digital Content Design, together with lecturer Cheng-Yi Li from Department of Business Administration and student Chien-Ming Su from Department of Visual Communication Design at Ling Tung University all visited the institutions one by one to shoot and complete the post-production operations.

The Google panoramic data for the 61 social welfare organizations include daycare, community care center, childcare resource center, new immigrant service center and senior college etc. were completely uploaded to Google Map at the end of March this year, providing free online inquiry and use for the vast general public. With Google panoramic view service, one does not need to go out in order to find the appropriate social welfare organization, but may see clearly by connecting to Google Map with a mobile phone.

The Social Affairs Bureau indicated that photos of actual views may be seen on the internet regardless of the geological location or the environment and internal facilities, so that everything is clear when looked up on the internet even if discussing with family or friends living in different cities, which has significantly enhanced the smart and convenient service of Taichung social welfare for the citizens.

Power of Freedom Internet Technology Co., Ltd. indicated that it hopes that, through this panoramic shooting project, a ripple effect may be created to influence more levels, such that not only social welfare organizations’ conditions may be seen online, but may also enhance the marketing ability of social welfare organizations, thereby attracting more resources.

Chung-Jung Wu, head of Department of Digital Content Design, Ling Tung University indicated that because of this opportunity, the students are allowed to demonstrate their profession, and thereby contributing to the society with their profession.
