Wu Pao Chun Bakery opened its Taichung flagship store on the 17th. Due to its proximity to National Taichung Theater, the bakery’s façade is inspired by the concept of “theater design” and it is named Wu Pao Chun Bread Theater, where large panes of glass showcase the bread making process. During the opening ceremony, Mayor Chia-lung Lin offered his congratulatory remarks by stating that Wu Pao Chun was a baker apprentice in Taichung 3 decades ago, thus he is not only the pride of Taiwan but also the pride of Taichung. He also thanked Wu Pao Chun for opening the best, largest and unique flagship bakery in Taichung and for designing the 7 limited edition World Flora Expo 2018 breads.
Wu Pao Chun Bread Theater’s façade is inspired by the concept of “theater design”, where large panes of glass showcase the bread making process. In continuing the “Daily Chef Show” in northern Kaohsiung, experts from the baking industry or other industries are invited to collaborate with Wu Pao Chun in order to stimulate more possibilities breads. In addition to launching 7 limited edition Flora Expo breads in the Taichung store, “Wu Pao Chun style ice cream” - the brand’s exclusive gelato - was also unveiled for the first time.
According to Mayor Lin, the theater-inspired design of the Taichung flagship store allows passersby to appreciate the entire bread making process as if watching a performance in the theater. In addition to food safety, the experiential presentation also embodies creativity. Pastry chef Wu Pao Chun was a baker apprentice in Taichung 3 decades ago, thus he is not only the pride of Taiwan but also the pride of Taichung. Wu Pao Chun expressed fond memories of his apprenticeship in Taichung, therefore he wanted to save the best for Taichung; not only did he create 7 limited breads for the World Flora Expo, he also utilized different local ingredients and stories to portray the delightful flavors of the World Flora Expo. Mayor Lin extended his gratitude to Wu Pao Chun for opening the best, largest and unique flagship bakery in Taichung.
The 7 World Flora Expo breads designed by Wu Pao Chun’s team draw inspiration from the “Imagery of Flowers” including “Apple Flower”, “Tuberose Pizza”, “Melon Pan Flower”, “Sweet Osmanthus Toast”, “Mini Garden”, “Desert Rose” and “Fragrance of Osmanthus” etc., where different ingredients are used in conjunction with different shapes to celebrate the World Flora Expo.
Wu Pao Chun style ice cream, also exclusive to Taichung, are available in a variety of flavors. Besides the award winning “Taiwanese Longan with Red Wine” flavor, 4 additional unique ice cream flavors were also created using local ingredients: “Rose & Berry”, “Baked Purple Yam”, “Passion Fruit & Mango” and “Fresh Milk & Vanilla”.
Economic Development Bureau indicated that the “Flower Feast Pavilion” has been designed for 2018 Taichung World Flora Expo to showcase Taichung’s unique pastries and souvenirs. In order to encourage bakeries to create unique World Flora Expo products, the “Taiwan Golden Pastry Award – Creative World Flora Expo Bake Off” is also organized, it is hope that everyone will join forces to promote Taichung’s gastronomic culture internationally.
