The 2005 Taichung City’s Promotional Activity for the Improvement of the Welfare and Benefits for Elderly People took place at Encore Garden on July 24, 2005, and attracted hundreds of elderly people. Taichung City’s Deputy Mayor Xiao Jia Qi was there to wish all the elderly people health and happiness. The Social Affairs Bureau was there to promote information on different welfare benefits for the elderly; and there were also many stall providing a variety of service such as breakfast, eyesight tests, health checks by the Taichung Hospital, massage chairs and others. Elderly people who took part in all the services were also qualified for a lucky draw afterwards. The Social Affairs Bureau expressed that in 2005, there would be a total of four such promotional activities, starting from July 24 till August 14, for four consecutive Sundays at Encore Garden, and welcomes anyone over the age of 65 to come and join.
