The groundbreaking ceremony for the new construction of Lide Police Station and Traffic Squad of 3rd Precinct of Taichung City Government Police Department was held at 09:25 on the morning of December 27, 2012, at the intersection of Zhenxing Road and Heping Road of East District. The event was attended by the local gentry and elected representatives.
Located at No. 99 of Taichung Road of East District, the Lide Police Station of 3rd Precinct of Taichung City Government Police Department has been a core unit in the police service. Its original office building has been over loaded with ever-increasing tasks and services. To offer better services to the public coming and going in East District, which has been getting more and more hustling and bustling every day, the Taichung City Government decided to allocate a budget to construct a new building for the Lide Police Station and its Traffic Squad at the intersection of Zhenxing Road and Heping Road of East District. The construction project is expected to be completed in November 2013.
The groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by Tiao Chien-sheng (刁建生), Commissioner of Taichung City Government Police Department. Present at the event were many guests, including Zhang Hong-nian (張宏年, Vice Speaker of Taichung City Council); City Councilors Lin Pei-han (林珮涵), Ho Min-cheng (何敏誠), and Li Zhong (李中); Municipal Advisers Lin Zhang Jiu-mei (林張久美), Lai Yi-nian (賴頣年), and Yen Ying-nan (顏英男); Zhuo Zheng-liang (卓政良, Chief of 3rd Precinct of Taichung City Government Police Bureau); Zhong Qiao-hu (張燋虎, Director of Third Office of Friends of the Police); and many neighborhood heads, volunteers, vigilantes, and civil defense cadres. Ho Bao-feng (何寶鳳), sub-captain of Lide Volunteer Section, even mobilized a number of volunteers to assist in the event. The new Office Building, after it is completed and opened for business, shall be able to offer better services to the public, combat crime, provide a modern office space to the police officers, help improve the image of the police, and enhance work efficiency. It shall also serve to strengthen law and order, maintain traffic order, and meet the demand of the public within the jurisdiction of the Lide Police Station.
