Anti-Pick pocketing during Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage Procession

  • Date: 2018-02-14
  • Issued by: Police Department

Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage Procession passed through the jurisdiction of Wurih Precinct on April 18th. Over 200,000 people joined the Pilgrimage Procession. A number of pick-pocketing rings also took the opportunity to steal. To prevent the gangsters from pick pocketing, Wurih Precinct adopted several necessary measures. For example, large "Beware of Pickpockets" signs were lifted in places where the crowd gathered and anti-pick pocketing experts were assigned to monitor any suspicious persons during the Pilgrimage Procession.

Wurih Precinct urged people on the Pilgrimage Procession to always put belongings in front of their own bodies or places they can easily spot, so as to keep pickpockets from cutting their bags or purses. People with children were also urged to hold the hands of their kids and keep them in sight. It was suggested that the kids be equipped with bracelets or straps with contact phone numbers, so that people or the police can give their family a call when they get lost.
