Tauranga Invited to Flora Expo, Signing “Taichung Declaration”

Tauranga Mayor Mr. & Mrs. Greg Brownless of New Zealand arrived Taichung today (12), under the warm welcome of Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-ying and Taichung department directors. Upon signing “Taichung Declaration”, “The annual jazz music festival each year held in both cities encourages mutual collaboration of tourism and culture.” says Deputy Mayor Lin, “To facilitate mutual development, we invite Tauranga to join us in the Flora Expo.”

With EPB Deputy Director Chen Hong-yi, Water Resource Deputy Director Han Nai-bin, Culture Bureau Deputy Director Shi Chun-fu, Civil Affairs Bureau Deputy Director Lu Zheng-yuan, and Flora Expo office advisory officer Sun Zhong-xing’s company, Deputy Mayor Lin met Tauranga Mayor Mr. & Mrs. Greg Brownless and talked about art exhibition, international events and other city constructions. Tauranga Mayor signed “Taichung Declaration” to show determination in Green Productivity, Nature Sustainability, and People with Greenability.

Mayor Lin Chia-lung is taking Taichung to become an Event City that holds activities and events. Of Jazz music and Taichung International Dance Parade & Festival, the former has made 16 annual events in the city, while the festival has run for 56 years in Tauranga. Taichung is looking to further communication over art and performance, etc.

The Int’l Flora Expo starts from November 3 in Taichung is inviting Tauranga to join for the event, says Mayor Lin, and expects a wide spread of Green Productivity, Nature Sustainability, and People with Greenability, through “Taichung Declaration” among global cities. Targeting 100 city members of Declaration, the goal is the pursuit of better life among human being.

Mr. Brownless, the Mayor of the fifth largest New Zealand city where bears forest, farming, dairy and kiwi export, appreciated the warm gesture, and expects great opportunities for mutual collaboration with Taichung’s advancing manufacture.

Taking GNP and offer it a new interpretation, the Flora Expo theme “GNP - Rediscover Green, Nature and People” gives the acronym another definition. The attitude of pursuing green production, sustainable ecology and the nature is paralleled with technology advancement. Global exchange and collaboration through the agreement of Taichung Declaration fortify the links and the co-prosperity of the world.
