The renovation project of FengLe Sculpture Parkin Nantun has been started last year. The project has included the first outdoor「parkour」training field, newly added terrazzo slide, sandpit and swings, a good space with plants growing, walkway tiles improvement etc. all these constructions were completed one by one. Mayor Chia-lung Lin today（25th）visited the constructions on site and said, the 「parkour」training field is expected to have the young people a place to develop their good habits of doing exercises with their spirit of adventure. Meanwhile, the old facilities in the park has been renovated in addition to the sludge removal of lake bottom so it’s believed to be a new landmark of the area.

Taichung City Government has checked all the parks in the city and initiated the old facilities renovation project. For FengLe Sculpture Park, the plastic child play facilities were replaced and the first outdoor「parkour」training field of Taiwan was built there. The whole project of the park renovation has been completed by the 2nd half of June. Mayor Lin has hosted the blessing ceremony today and enjoyed the great performances of all「parkour」players. He anticipates the young people can show their power of youth and build their good sport habits. Councilor Yao-chung Chang, Wen-hai Ho, Su-chen Chiu, Shi-jou Liu and many local Chiefs of boroughs were there to witness the ceremony.

Mayor Lin said, FengLe Sculpture Park is an important park in the downtown. It’s built with the themes of sculpture landscape and sport space but some facilities were old and damaged. However, after the renovation initiated by the City Government, the newly added「parkour」facilities announces the first「parkour」park of Taiwan has been born in Taichung.

Mayor Lin mentioned as well, after his inauguration, he found the average green area for the citizens of Taichung was limited. With the bare land green project, the old parks have been renovated and the plastic child play facilities of the 370 parks around the city have been replaced with the terrazzo facilities. So far, the average green land for the citizens in Taichung has been the top one or two among six cities and owned high recognitions of the citizens. Today, the newly added 「parkour」facilities in FengLe Sculpture Park and the sludge of the lake bottom has been cleaned so the part will be the new shining spot there and copied to all the parks in the city.

Director of Construction Bureau Yu-lin Huang indicated, FengLe Sculpture Park of Nantun District was started from 1994 until now with more than 23 years of history. The renovation project with the total budget of NT$19.57 million has covered 4 parts, including the improvement of surrounding walkway of the park and the square at the street corner, seats at the place in front of the park gate and the flower bed, green project of the water scenery at sculpture area, and the playground renovation and improvement in the park. The project period took 8 months of time to construct and has been completed by the first half of June.

The newly constructed 「parkour」playground has connected the environment with the sports and provided the citizens a safe place for activities to challenge themselves and have funs of「parkour」.
