Joining celebrating 2018 Taichung FLORA EXPO, National Palace Museum (NPM) is displaying the world renowned relic “Jadeite Cabbage” and “Small Jadeite Cabbage” in “NPM Butterfly Hall” at Houli Horse Ranch together with other relics and Taichung specialty flowers. Taichung FLORA EXPO is not only about flowers, it is a practice of cultural life. With the support from NPM, visitors get closer to the Museum through the Exposition, where Taiwan’s beauty is seen by the world.

In Taipei, Taichung City Government held a press at National Palace Museum for the “Jadeite Cabbage” coming to Taichung. Upon promoting the upcoming event, NPM and Taichung’s first communication is witnessed by both mascots of NPM “Xiao Cui” and FLORA EXPO “Hu-ma Mama Tiger”. The two mascots exchanged souvenirs, with the presence of City Deputy Secretary-General Guo Kun-ming, NPM Director Chen Chi-nan, Deputy Director Lee Jing-hui and Huang Yong-tai.

NPM Director Chen Chi-nan expressed the honor to participate Taichung FLORA EXPO and believed that the international event is a good channel for people in central, south Taiwan to view the collections in a more friendly way.

As per Director Chen, to decide to display the Jadeite Cabbage, which is the most known totem in NPM and a representative of agriculture industry, it does not only respond to the theme of the FLORA EXPO but also the main activity, farming, in central and south Taiwan. The display of Jadeite Cabbage shall remind the viewers of earth, the life source of agriculture.

Taichung FLORA EXPO doesn’t belong solely to Taichung, it is of Taiwan. Therefore, Taichung seeks and grabs every opportunity to work with the country wherever possible to enhance the coverage and depth of the Exposition. With top standard, the event will convey the spirit of GNP, “Green, Nature, People”, and the most beautiful faces of Taiwan to the world, says Mayor Lin.

While at the FLORA EXPO displays the “Jadeite Cabbage” and “Small Jadeite Cabbage”, at Southern Branch the “Jadeite Cabbage Flower Stand” from NPM collection will be available as well. Combo ticket is issued for Taichung Citizens of the free entrance to South Branch upon presenting FLORA EXPO card start from October throughout FLORA EXPO period. FLORA EXPO is gathering people to Taichung and “Go south” to Jiayi to appreciate the beautiful collection, Mayor Lin further explained.

Taichung FLORA EXPO is not only about flowers, it is a practice of cultural life, emphasized Mayor Lin. In addition to the relic display, FLORA EXPO will expand its territory to four other museums, National Palace Museum, Tokyo Fuji Museum, National Taiwan Museum, and Chimei Museum, and display more than 150 flower related artworks. Through the conversation with indicative art locations, it extends the possibility and spaces for cultural life.

The national treasure exhibition process is standardized with strict SOP. Taichung City Government will work under such guideline and enhance the security to best accommodate such honorable collaboration.

As per National Palace Museum, the collaboration with Taichung City Government begins from the four museum exhibition. In the past years NPM has been working on to make the Museum more friendly to the public so as to get the art closer to people and as a promotion to tourism activities. The collaboration will make NPM more local, while showing the world the beauty of Taiwan through FLORA EXPO.
