Tonight (November 3) Taichung Flora Expo opens at the Central Park of Shuinan Smart City. 100m wide, 20m high giant stage gathered more than 30,000 people to join. Announced by President Tsai, Mayor Lin Chia-lung and AIPH President Mr. Bernard Oosterom, a three-day Flora Expo evening event begins. 37 performing groups from 5 continents told the stories of past and now, and the tales of blossom, bringing a magnificent feast of art.

Mayor Lin says that the challenges faced during preparation only fortified our faith to ecology conservation and humanity value. Thanks to City Government’s colleagues, participating corporations and more than 20,000 volunteers, the Flora Expo spirit “Rediscover GNP” will be the symbol of global green consciousness.
Joining in the grand opening, Mayor Lin, Resident Tsai, President of the Legislative Yuan Su Jia-quan, AIPH President Mr. Bernard Oosterom, representatives from around the world, friendly cities and participating members as well elected representatives are gathered together to witness the international event. Giant lily and rose balloons decorated up the evening, joyful atmosphere is like one carnival.

Mayor Lin indicated that after 6 years of irrigation, a seed transformed into 2018 Taichung World Flora Expo. Such a journey full of unexpected challenges makes it unforgettable. To reserve for leopard cat habitat, the Flora Expo divided the area into 3 zones. Another highlight would be the restoration of Houli Horse Ranch. These challenges had made the Expo to open as timetable an extra stressful progress. City Government’s colleagues, participating corporations and more than 20,000 volunteers are the reason the Flora Expo is blooming beautifully.

Mayor Lin acknowledged these challenges that fortified our faith to ecology conservation and humanity value, making the Expo a unique existence, a world-class Expo. Therefore, Lin thanked former Mayor Hu Zhi-qiang, curator team to realize the core value of Flora Expo, AIPH’s recognition to Taichung Flora Expo and Taichung Declaration. The Flora Expo spirit “Rediscover Green, Nature&People” will be the symbol of global green consciousness. Mayor Lin further thanked 178 cities and international organizations for joining in the green movement from 50 countries.

Lin mentioned that the event is joined by not only Taichung but also the entire country. The world is presented with Taiwan’s best in Taichung. The rich ecology of the island, the love for the terre, from agriculture society to contemporary aesthetics to state-of-art technology. Taichung Flora Expo not only crosses space to connect the world, but crosses time to embrace the past, feel the moment, and touch the future.

on the event, the 140-million-year history of flowers on the earth is reviewed, land also the most unique, most beautiful aspect of tonight’s Flora Expo beginning a chapter of civilization. The best of Taichung Flora Expo is not all about flowers. The three-day event will feature world-class performance as well. Young design/production teams are in charge of the stage that profoundly represents Taichung culture and landscape. 100m wide, 20m high giant stage maximizes the visual effect.

As per Culture Bureau, on the giant flower-decorated stage, acting, dancing, singing, parading with balloons in the air, 37 groups of international and domestic performers weaved the story of life, the human culture for 140 million years, depicting the theme of Taichung Flora Expo “Rediscover Green, Nature, and People”

Before the event starts, shows brought by Leopard cat family, Chio-Tian Folk Drums & Arts, Taiwan Stunt and National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra welcomed everyone to the show; at 19:00, national treasure Tang Mei-yun sang the the song “City of Hundred Years”, composed by Lin Qiang, written by Wang Zhi-cheng, Culture Bureau Director; “Our Taichung” documented Taichung from the sky, taking people to the natural beauty m, culture, and architecture of Taichung.
