Established in 1948, the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) is an official organization of the United Nations. FIABCI membership includes 120 real estate organizations that represent over 1.5 million professionals, 60 Academic Institutions and 3500 Individuals and companies. The FIABCI has its annual meeting, or World Congress, held in different member states to strengthen exchange among the real estate professionals and to recognize outstanding architectural works by conferring Prix d’Excellence Awards. As of the end of 2012, Taiwan has won 7 first-place prizes and 14 second-place prizes.
The Real Estate Association of Republic of China (REAROC) is the Taiwan Chapter of FIABCI, called FIABCI-Taiwan. It is the REAROC together with the relevant units of Taichung City Government that has successfully persuaded the FIABCI to hold in Taichung its 64th World Congress, to which Mr. Toyo Ito, an internationally renowned architect, will be invited to give keynote speeches and FIABCI members and real estate professionals will come over to join this event from around the world.
Co-sponsored by Taichung City Government and REAROC, the FIABCI 64th World Congress is aimed to make the domestic real estate professionals better understand the real estate trends in the world and foreign participants feel the creative culture, economic development, municipal construction and real estate development in Taichung City. It is also a good opportunity to make our international friends feel the hospitality of local people, to promote tourism, to attract investment, and to push forward Taichung City to the world. In sum, we hope to reach the following goals:
(1) To invite the real estate practitioners and professionals from home and abroad to visit Taichung and exchange ideas and experience.
(2) To promote Taichung City’s achievements and experience in real estate development, zone expropriation and land readjustment, and major development projects (such as the Shueinan Commerce and Trade Park) to the global real estate developers and to attract their investments in Taichung.
(3) To promote the tourism industry in Taichung and benefit the economic growth in Taichung as there will be more than 1,000 visitors and their dependents coming over to Taichung from home and abroad and they will definitely spend money here before, during and after the meeting.
