Taichung City's plans to set up surveillance cameras at minor road systems have caused concern from all over. During the public safety meeting report, the City Police Bureau invited National Chung Cheng University's Department of Criminology Head Yang Shi Long to give a lecture on "camera surveillance systems and crime prevention". Department Head Yang expressed that in the United Kingdom since setting up CCTV systems in 1995, these surveillance cameras are directly connected to the police. The result of this was beyond anyone's expectations, within the surveillance area, the overall crime rate dropped by 14.3%.

Mayor Hu expressed that Taichung's plan to set up surveillance cameras at minor road systems is aimed at helping gather more information and evidence, to assist in solving crimes and raise crime solving rates. Mayor Hu emphasized that future surveillance cameras will make use of better technology such as wireless applications, and unify all the different standards and information systems, so as to effectively make use of the electronic fence system.
