The First Issue Commemoration Ceremony of the 2006 Children's Paintings Stamps, as well as the Anti-Corruption Essay Writing Competition Awards Ceremony was jointly held at the plaza in front of the Taichung City Government on April 4. The stamps that were issued this time were 20 winners chosen from the 2005 National Children's Creative Drawing Competition and Stamp Design Competition. The stamps are worth NT$5 each. The Anti-Corruption Essay Writing Competition had over 200 student participants, and amongst them, 37 students were chosen and recognized for their excellence.
During the ceremony, there were performances by children, as well as charity stalls, a temporary post office, an exhibition of Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale stamps as well as the original paintings of the children's stamps. The Taichung Post Office also made use of this opportunity to express their care towards children's welfare and public welfare, by combining efforts with community charity groups and donating children's books to the Taichung City Cultural Bureau. It was also hoped that these efforts would help bring more attention to the welfare of children, to build a better society, making this Children's Day activity even more meaningful.
