Wanan drill 36 to be held in central Taiwan on April 16

Wanan drill 36 is scheduled to take place in central Taiwan between 13:30 and 14:00 on April 16. It is a 30-minute national air raid drill for the following exercises:
1. Anti-intelligence transmission.
2. Issuing the air raid warning.
3. Traffic control and crowd dispersal.
4. Setting up and opening air defense shelters.
5. Controls of lighting and closing doors and windows of households
To prepare for this air raid drill and to expand the publicity effect, the 2nd Precinct of Taichung City Government Police Department convened a coordination meeting at the Precinct’s auditorium at 16:00 on March 28. Invited to the meeting were officials and staff from the North District Office, the health centers, the neighborhoods/communities, and schools. All the related drill messages are posted on the website of 2nd Precinct and compiled into newsletters which are posted on the bulletin boards in every community. Moreover, LED electronic marquees are airing the messages to the public and the police patrol cars are tied with eye-catching red propaganda cloth to remind people on the streets.
During the 30-minute drill time on April 16, the 2nd Precinct will drillemergent traffic control and crowd dispersal on the important junctions and civilian defense units will be mobilized to timely guide the traffic and people to evacuate quickly to the outskirts of the city, the emergency shelters or appropriate places.
It is urged that upon hearing the air raid siren on April 16, please immediately close all the windows and doors and turn off gas, the stove, and the power sources. Every business firm must suspend operations. Pedestrians and travelers on the street must immediately enter the nearest refuge on either side of the street. All the vehicles parking in the city shall remain at the same place. Drivers of vehicles on the move should pull over on the street side, turn off engines, and immediately get off to the nearest refuge. It is hoped that all the businesses, people, households, and vehicles can cooperate. Otherwise, a violator may be punished by a fine of NT$ 30,000-150,000, according to the Civil Defense Act.
