The 2nd Anniversary of “Taichung Girl’s Gallery” –Achievements Special Exhibition is held to share fruits of girls fulfilling their dreams

October 11, was the “Taiwan Girl’s Day.” It was also the 2nd year anniversary of “Taichung Girl’s Gallery.” The Social Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government held the press conference of “Taichung Girls – Different but Exciting” today (11th) to demonstrate the accomplishments of “Taichung Girls Dream Fulfillment Plan.” There were 10 groups of girls stood out with their dream fulfillment plans. The “Wave Wading” teamed by Huang Pei-ci, Chen Xin-jie, and Huang Yi-xing won the outstanding award. They gathered the demands of shelters for street animals in Taichung in stages, with the hope of alerting people’s concern about street animals.

The first space for female in Asia – “Taichung Girl’s Gallery” has been established for two years. Today, in the press conference “Taichung Girl’s Gallery”, people, including Director Lue Jen-Der of the Social Affairs Bureau, Councilor Chen Shu-hua, Councilor Lai Jia-wei, Deputy Director Wang Yue-hao of The Garden of Hope Foundation, and more attended the event. Director Lue also presented certificates to 10 outstanding teams as tokens to ensure their abilities to fulfill their dreams.

Director Lue expressed that Taichung has already become the second largest city in Taiwan. According to the demography, by the end of August 2017, female occupies 50.7% of the population; and male, 49.3%. It indicates that the number of female is slightly higher than that of the male. Taichung City Government established the “Taichung Girl’s Gallery” to provide young people with a platform to develop themselves and fulfill their dreams, working together to construct a friendly city.

Director Lue pointed out that in the 2nd “Taichung Girls Dream Fulfillment Plan” the participants were mainly young people at the age of 15 to 22. They proposed their projects in teams to demonstrate five major characteristics: girl power, confidence, courage, knowledge, and responsibility.

In this occasion, 10 girls dream fulfillment plans performed brilliantly. The team “Wave Wading” won the Excellent Award. Consisted of three freshpersons Huang Pei-ci, Chen Xin-jie, and Huang Yi-xing, they collected the demand of providing shelters to street animals according to stages and districts. They further constructed an online platform to recruit resources, sell charity postcards, and even share their experiences on tour, hoping to alert the general public to value animal rights. The Dream Fulfillment special exhibition is held from October to February. Welcome to share the accomplishments of Taichung girls that have their dreams fulfilled.

To promote education on gender equality and get closer to young people’s daily life, it has designed a gender equality live game – The Adventure of Daisy. With this VR game, it allows players to explore four major issues – self-identity, workplace identity, division of labor in families, and career planning. Fusing concepts of gender equality into everyday life situation, the live game will be operated from October to February the next year. The opening hours are every Wednesday to Saturday.
