One of the districts in which the 2018 World Flora Expo will take place is Houli. In addition to the bus tour, the mascots for the Flora Expo, the Stone Tiger Family, will occasionally accompany travelers as they make their way through Houli. Visitors can collect points or check in to earn prizes, all are welcome.

The Houli District Office held a promotional press conference on the 14th. Representatives including Secretary-General of the City Government Huang Jingmao, Vice Chief of the Tourism Bureau Chen Yuzheng, Vice Chief of the Civil Affairs Bureau Xu Xianqing, Acting District Chief of Houli District Zhang Dachun, Legislator Hong Ciyong, and City Councilor Chen Bentian were all in attendance.

Secretary-General Huang stated that Houli is a livable town known for its saxophones, flowers, and wineries. The shuttle buses and tour buses for this event will introduce visitors to Houli’s important landmarks, which include Lihpao Land, the Xingyue Scenic Area, Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum, Houfeng Railway, and Taian Railway Park. Through these locations, visitors may get to know the rich culture of Houli. Of course, one must mention the largest exhibition area for the 2018 Taichung World Flora Expo, and the expo’s mascots, the Stone Tiger Family, who will occasionally accompany visitors and promote next year’s expo.

Legislator Hong Ciyong stated that, although Houli is a small town, it has many great local industries and tourist spots. According to data from the Tourism Bureau, the destination receiving the most visitors was Lihpao Land, and the most popular public site was Houfeng Railway. Additionally, there are many other fun places to recommend, especially next year’s Flora Expo, which will provide a great chance to develop local industries. Through the expo, Houli will be able to improve local tourism and infrastructure, so that even after the expo has finished, visitors will continue to come to Houli. We hope to show the beauty of Houli to the nation, and the world.

City Councilor Chen Bentian also stated he hopes to promote Houli through this event, showing everyone that Houli does not only have horse ranches, but many great industries. He hopes that, through the hard work of both the central and local governments, Houli may shine even brighter.

The Houli district office stated that the event will include fixed shuttle tours, package tours, concerts, a raffle for points collected on a travel card, and a creative raffle for checking in. The shuttle and buses and tours will take place between November 18 and January 7 of next year on Saturdays and Sundays from 9a.m. to 5p.m. (to accommodate the Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival, daily service will be provided starting on December 23). The bus will pass by Lihpao Land, Taian Railway Park, Zhongshe Flower Market, Houfeng Railway, the Carpenters, Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum, Yuemei Tourism Sugar Factory, Song Heh Winery, Xingyue Scenic Area, Zemin Tree, and the Mengfang Flower Farm.
