With the growth in population, Taichung will become the second largest city in Taiwan. Mayor Lin Chia-lung expressed that it is mainly because of the continuous launching major constructions in Taichung – “Building the nest to attract phoenixes.” Taichung City Government will endeavor to construct Taichung into a happy and livable city with solid infrastructure construction and good social welfare. Transforming Taichung into a livable city, it attracts not only local people to stay but also people from different parts of Taiwan move here.

On 21, in the 2nd year anniversary party of the Non-Partisan Solidarity Union Mayor Lin expressed Taichung will become the second largest city in Taiwan. And Taichung City Government will endeavor to make it into a safe, happy, and livable environment by constructing necessary infrastructure construction and providing good social welfare. In order to position the city accurately, the city government will also promote the region plan, which was approved by the Ministry of Interiors in the 20th. With a complete urban plan, the blueprint the development of future Taichung is ready.

“We want professional talents to stay and attract more talents to Taichung!” Mayor Lin said, recently, there is the growth of about 20 thousand in population per year. Among them, 10 thousand people are grown naturally; and the other 10 thousand are moved in from other areas. The growth in population and the launching of major construction plan in Taichung is mainly the results of “Building the nest to attract phoenixes.” Regarding the software, there are a streamline caring services for people from the cradle to the grave, youth hope construction project, 10km free bus ride, and other public policies, which have earned high acclaims from different walks of life. As a result, the population grows naturally.

Regarding the attracting factor of migration to Taichung, Mayor Lin said, when people consider whether they live in a good place or not, the first thing they care are wages and job opportunities. Therefore, the city government promotes the Youth Hope Engineering Project to provide young people with more and better jobs. Therefore, there is a low unemployment rate in Taichung, and the wages are growing. About job counseling services, the city government has put strength on it. In addition, the promotion of enterprise-establishing will encourage economic growth. As a result, it will bring more job opportunities to Taichung. The social welfare policies of childcare, senior care, and more provide good care to the children and parents of young people. Naturally, it will attract them to move into Taichung.

Mayor Lin also stressed that in the future, Taichung City Government will collaborate with the city council to put more strength on the infrastructure construction and social welfare to make Taichung a more livable city.
