This nostalgic building was the Taichung site of Imperial Sugar Manufacturing Co., Ltd. during the Japanese Colonial Era, adding a sense of history to East District. In order to preserve the culture and history of Taichung Sugar Factory and in coordination with the overhead construction of Taichung Station and neighboring urban renewal projects, major construction and investment projects are being organized in order to enhance the land and development value of this place. Through the aforementioned projects, the features of Taichung Sugar Factory will reappear, its regional function will be enhanced, and an outstanding space for living, recreation and education will be created through the combination with neighboring living, recreational, commercial and business activities in order to form the new spotlight of old downtown Taichung City.
