Taichung Gaomei Wetland is a sightseeing spot with the recognition as everyone must visit for once in the lifetime by the international website. There are always lots of visitors on holidays and the occasions of parking violations or competition of pedestrians and cars on the road. Because of the traffic mess, the City Government plan to implement the traffic control on Meiti Street during weekend and national holidays. The traffic control will start from 14:00 to 20:00 and no entering of cars or motorcycles. It was planned to kick off on 14th April (Sat). People can park their cars at the first and second parking lots then take the shuttle or ride iBike to reach the Wetland. The experience of visiting Gaomei Wetland will be safer and more comfortable with the new policies.

Director of Transportation Bureau, Yu-chuan. Wang said, in order to resolve the traffic mess due to the parking violations around the Gaomei Wetland, the City Government has plan to develop a new parking area at the cross entrances of Sanshun Road and Meiti Street in addition to the first and second parking lots of Gaomei Wetland at the park land of Huangung North Road. It’s open to be used last December with 550 parking spaces for the compact cars, 24 for vans and 210 for motorcycles so the parking issues now is resolved better.

Besides, in order to relieve the competition of pedestrians and cars on the roads, the Government plans to set the pedestrian walking area of Gaomei Wetland on the crowed Meiti Street during the weekend or national holidays. The traffic control will start from 14:00 to 20:00 and no entering of cars or motorcycles. It was planned to kick off on 14th April (Sat).

Director Wang said, in order to align with the traffic control of cars and motorcycles, Transportation Bureau will provide the shuttle service to Gaomei Wetland during the traffic control period. The shuttles will be scheduled as cruise buses to provide inbound and outbound services from the first and second parking lots to Gaomei Wetland. The long term goal is to have the Gaomei Wetland parking lots as the transferring base of the tourism buses in sea-line area and connect to the sightseeing area, including Qingshui Train Station, High Speed Rail Station, Qingshui downtown, Gaomei Wetland, Wuqi fishing harbor, Taichung Port tourists service center and the future aquarium under construction, Mitsui outlet etc. to make the visitors easy to travel around the sea-line area by the public transportation tools.

The officer of Transportation Bureau said, there were 6 newly planned bus routes like 111, 309, 655, 688, 178 and 179 etc. to connect to the outer regions for improving the tourism quality of Gaomei Wetland and no more traffic jammed. So the tourists can easily take the buses from High Speed Rail Taichung Station, Taichung Train Station and Qingshui Train Station to Gaomei Wetland or Wuqi fishing harbor etc. The bus is scheduled with 144 round trips. Also, the travel group taking the buses can stop at the temporary parking area for buses on Sanshun Road to drop the guests off the bus. Then the bus drivers can drive to the second parking lot to park easily.
