The Taiwan Kiwanis Children Foundation and the four divisions of Taiwan District of Kiwanis International in central Taiwan jointly extended their support to underprivileged elementary school students in Taichung City. On July 29, a donation ceremony for the 2025 Scholarship Program for Outstanding Underprivileged Students was held at the assembly hall of Taichung City Hall. The event was attended by Chen Chih-Kang, President of Taiwan District of Kiwanis International, Taichung Division Chairperson Lo Chen-Min, Taichung Division A Chairperson Hsiao Chih-Pin, Taichung Division B Chairperson Su Li-Mei, Taichung Division C Chairperson Wang Ai, along with other club executives and chairs. A total donation of NT$1.22 million was presented, and the funds were received by Director Chiang Wei-Min of the Education Bureau, together with nearly 80 school principals or administrative representatives.
Director Chiang expressed his sincere gratitude to the Taiwan Kiwanis Children Foundation for their generous deeds in providing scholarships to elementary school students from underprivileged backgrounds who have demonstrated strong dedication toward learning. He noted that this commendable act will also serve as a catalyst to encourage further goodwill from the community. The recipients of this donation were selected by each school, with two academically outstanding students possessing valid proof of financial hardship nominated per school. Each student received a scholarship of NT$2,500, with the final list compiled and awarded through the Education Bureau.
President Chen Chih-Kang noted that Kiwanis International remains steadfast in its commitment to fulfilling its philanthropic mission through concrete action. With the Taiwan Kiwanis Children Foundation serving as the coordinating body, the annual scholarship program for underprivileged students has been carried out consistently over the years, assisting thousands of disadvantaged children in pursuing their education. By doing so, they offer these students hope and the belief that dreams can lead the way forward. Chairperson Wang Ai of Taichung Division C expressed her heartfelt thanks for every donation and every word of encouragement received. She extended special appreciation to Chong Lun Junior High School for its dedicated efforts in organizing the program. She described these contributions as beacons of light guiding the future of the students, and expressed her hope that this legacy of compassion would continue to be passed down through generations, illuminating the path for more children in need. Hsieh Hsiu-Chuan, Chairperson of the Taichung City Elementary School Principal Association and Principal of Dongxing Elementary School in Nantun District, remarked that it was an honor to witness this charitable moment that supports learning with love and changes the future through action. She emphasized that the scholarship not only provides tangible aids to underprivileged students, but also reflects society’s recognition of and support for education. Schools, she said, will ensure that this love and care reach every child in need, so they may feel the warmth and encouragement of society.
