The appointment and handover ceremony for principals of municipal schools and kindergartens of Taichung City for the 2025 academic year was solemnly held on August 1st at the Assembly Hall on the 4th floor of Taichung City Hall. A total of 101 principals were appointed for the new academic year, including 34 reappointed principals, 36 transferred principals, and 31 newly appointed principals. Mayor Lu Shiow-yen extended her sincerest gratitude to the retiring principals and encouraged all reappointed, transferred, and newly appointed principals to listen attentively and lead their teaching staff in collaborative efforts to nurture more outstanding talent.
Today, on such an important day, Mayor Lu expressed her deep gratitude. Education is the most vital work of a city, and the responsibilities borne by principals are significant. She expressed her deepest respect to the 25 retiring principals. She remarked that the retired principals have dedicated their lives to education and the children; they are the pride of Taichung and heroes of the city. Moreover, they have been invaluable mentors in the lives of the children, whose growth and progress toward the future have been made possible through their guidance and care.
“We are truly grateful to have you all!” Mayor Lu also mentioned that although the 25 principals are about to retire, she hopes they will continue to lend their strength and support to education in Taichung in the future. She further encouraged all reappointed, transferred, and newly appointed principals to shoulder their heavy responsibilities and missions. The growth of the schools and students now rests in their hands. She believes that each of them will carry out their duties with dedication and lead their schools toward steady development. Principal Yang Zhi-peng of Wanhe Junior High School, speaking on behalf of the retiring principals, stated that if life is a journey, then the path of a principal is akin to climbing a mountain. Regardless of how the surrounding scenery changes along the way, what matters most is whether one is well prepared; whether there are like-minded companions by your side; and whether the right strategies are chosen and the timing is well grasped. As long as one remains true to their original intentions and applies wisdom, steady progress can be assured.
Principal Huang Zhong-xing of Longfeng Elementary School in Longjing District, representing the newly appointed principals, remarked that what they lead is not merely a school, but a journey of growth for the children, professional development for the teachers, and a shared educational vision for the community.
