The results of the 52nd national skills competition were released. The vocational high school students in Taichung won 28 medals, including ten golds, ten silvers, and eight bronzes. A total of 28 players entered the national team trials, ranking the highest in the country. The contestants will be eligible to receive awards such as scholarships, examination-free technical subjects for skill verification, and preferential treatment for further study. They will also participate in the national team trials next year and have the opportunity to represent our country in the international skills competition (WorldSkills Lyon 2024). Director General of Education Bureau, Chen-Sheng Yang, thanked the award-winning schools for their efforts in nurturing the contestants and looked forward to the contestants winning glory for Taichung's technical and vocational education.
Director General Yang says that Mayor Shiow-Yen Lu attaches importance to technical and vocational education and encourages students to participate in competitions to promote learning. The city government has been cooperating with industry clusters to offer courses in relevant vocational disciplines and industry-university cooperation classes, and linking teaching resources of the local industries and universities to jointly promote practical technical and vocational education and forge a win-win cooperation between industry and university sectors. In this year's national skills competition, 28 Taichung vocational high school students qualified for the national player trials, ranking the highest in the country.
Yu-Chen Tsai is a student in the computer science department at Taichung Industrial High School who won the national gold medal in Internet Security. He thanked his family and school for their support and said that during the preparation of the cybersecurity contestants, he learned more about network infrastructure, computer introduction, information security and how to analyze, and other techniques.
According to the Education Bureau, Zi-Xian Yang, a National Dajia Industrial Senior High School student who won the national gold medal in mold design, comes from a family of experts in the national skills competition. His father, Ren-Sheng Yang, who works in National Dajia Industrial Senior High School, won the world silver medal in the mold category at the 33rd International skills competition. His wife, who he met through a skill competition, was also a national contestant in the catering service category. Zi-Xian's elder sister is studying at Mingdao High School and won the gold and bronze medals in the 49th and 51st national skills competitions, respectively. Currently, Zixian, who is enrolled in the matching talent cultivation program at the National Dajia Industrial Senior High School, has broken records and won the gold medal in the mold category in his second year of high school. The Bureau hopes that all players will make persistent efforts and continue to achieve good results.
