The Compulsory Education Advisory Group of Taichung City provides guidance to schools on curriculum development and research on teaching methods and materials to enhance the teaching effectiveness of teachers and promote the sharing of online teaching resources. The “Taichung City Online Teaching Resources Zone” is updated annually. Education Bureau of Taichung City Government has brought together 22 guidance groups from Compulsory Education Advisory Group to produce 34 lively and engaging teaching videos covering various fields and topics in elementary and junior high schools. These videos are available for free to teachers and students in Taichung City.
According to Director Wei-min Jiang of the Education Bureau, Mayor Hsiu-yen Lu values children's education, and “thinking, using, and enjoying learning, achieving the future” is the education vision of Taichung City. In response to the post-epidemic era and the Ministry of Education's policy of “promoting the project of digital learning in high school and elementary schools”, innovative teaching models have become a trend. Therefore, it is crucial to enhance teachers' ability to incorporate digital technology into teaching and to increase students' motivation for autonomous learning.
Director Jiang pointed out that in addition to updating the resources of the “Taichung City Online Teaching Resource Zone” every year, the Compulsory Education Advisory Group of Taichung City also publishes a reference manual for elementary and junior high school literacy-oriented teaching design for teachers to use as a reference. Through the production of videos, this time, the teaching resources are provided to teachers. Students can also select videos from the “Taichung City Online Teaching Resource Zone,” which integrates over 10,000 learning videos and supplementary materials of various subjects and versions, for autonomous learning.
The Education Bureau stated that the Compulsory Education Advisory Group of Taichung City leverages its own teaching expertise to condense various fields, subjects, and knowledge of issues into videos, which can be freely used by teachers and students with self-learning needs. The related videos are easy to access by clicking on the images, and can be played on any mobile device. The online learning resources will continue to be updated, and related workshops will be held to assist teachers in digital teaching skills, develop innovative teaching methods, and stimulate students' learning motivation and cultivate students’ autonomous learning abilities, in line with the spirit of self-initiative, interaction, and mutual benefit emphasized in the 108 curriculum guidelines. Multiple high-quality teaching videos can be viewed on the “Taichung City Online Teaching Resource Zone" (http://elearning.st.tc.edu.tw/id_select.php).
