The Education Bureau noted that all six awardees have heartfelt and inspiring journeys in education, each embodying the diverse nature and profound practice of the profession. Shih Yu-Chin, teacher at Taichung Special School for the Students with Hearing Impairments, has dedicated many years to special education. Guided by the belief that “special education is not about inability, but unique abilities,” she listens attentively to her students and guides them in discovering their strengths and shining their lives. Su Tzu-Chieh, director at Shang-An Elementary School in Xitun District, is known as a “multi-talented educator.” He is actively engaged in a wide range of areas including science education, language teaching, scouting, reading, and bilingual education. Her work spans language training, reading promotion, and lifelong learning for senior citizens, demonstrating both extensive experience and practical administrative competence. Though she is approaching retirement, she remains true to her educational calling, continuing to dedicate herself wholeheartedly to frontline education.
The Education Bureau also mentioned that Chiu I-Ching, section chief at Dayang Elementary School in the rural Qingshui District, is known for her energy and passion, often described as a “spinning top.” She has actively promoted writing education, guiding her entire class to submit articles to the Mandarin Daily News, achieving an impressive total of 159 published pieces.
