What to Do during an Earthquake?

1. If you are indoors, turn off the fire and the power immediately. Then, run to the open space outdoors, but watch out for falling objects (such as signs, roofing tiles, advertising lights, etc.).
2. If you are unable to run away from home, rush and take shelter under sturdy and stable furniture so as to avoid being hit by falling objects indoors.
3. Do not hide yourself near the wall, the river dike, the sea dike or the cliff.
4. Residents in a coastal area should move to higher grounds to avoid tsunami.
5. Residents in the downstream of a reservoir should protect themselves from flooding caused by collapse of the reservoir.
6. Keep yourself away from buildings under construction, the poles, the fences, and unstable vending machines.
7. Residents in a high-rise building should not rush during the escape, so as to avoid falling and being trampled to death and blocking the exit.
8. When a disaster occurs, help each other and report to the police for relief.
