Boosting Rescue Capabilities: 22 Philanthropists Donate Firefighting and Rescue Equipment to Taichung’s Fire Bureau

On July 27, Ms. Hui-Chen Chiang, along with 21 other philanthropic business representatives, donated a batch of disaster relief equipment to the Guoguang Branch of the Special Rescue Corps under the Taichung City Government’s Fire Bureau. The donation ceremony was held at the Guoguang Branch’s station. According to the Fire Bureau, the donated items include essential equipment such as self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), rescue stretcher sets used for patient transport and lifting, as well as various computer and information devices required for emergency operations. This donation not only enhances the Guoguang Branch’s disaster response capacity and improves the operational efficiency of rescue personnel but also significantly reduces the risks involved in emergency missions.
The Fire Bureau explained that the Guoguang Branch is located in Dali District, which has the third-highest population among Taichung City's administrative districts. Its jurisdiction includes the Dali, Renhua, and Wufeng industrial zones, where fire incidents occur frequently, underscoring the critical need for adequate firefighting and rescue equipment. Additionally, the branch borders the mountainous regions of Taiping and Wufeng, where rescue operations are common. In areas inaccessible to rescue vehicles, rope-based rescue methods are often required. Upholding the principle of giving back to society, Ms. Chiang and the 21 other philanthropic business representatives recognized the importance of disaster relief equipment to firefighters. Through the coordination and facilitation of Deputy Captain Cheng Chao-Hsiung of the Guoguang Volunteer Fire Brigade, they jointly donated this batch of rescue equipment to the Guoguang Branch.
The Fire Bureau also expressed its sincere gratitude for this generous act and for the donors’ concern and support for firefighting efforts. Their contribution not only reflects a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility but also serves as an exemplary model of how collective civic action can help safeguard communities. It is the bureau’s earnest hope that such compassion and goodwill will inspire more people to recognize the positive impact that can be achieved when the private and public sectors join forces.
