Seventh Corps Qingong Branch promoted the inspection and reporting of fire safety equipment for places other than Class A within its jurisdiction

Fire Bureau of Taichung City Government’s Seventh Corps Qingong Branch promoted the inspection and reporting of fire safety equipment for places other than Class A within its jurisdiction during 09:00 and 12:00 on May 29, 2017.

The public is made aware of:
(1) Amendments to the law explained: In order to maintain fire safety and effectively urge the administrator to conduct inspection reporting of fire safety equipment, as of January 18, 2017, the clause stipulating that “improvements must be made within the notified deadline or fines will be issued” is amended as “direct penalty will be given and improvements must be made within the specified deadline, and each violation can be fined separately.
(2) Periodic Service and Reporting of Fire Safety Equipment (Article 9, Paragraph 1 of Fire Services Act): According to places requiring fire safety equipment as stipulated in Article 6, Paragraph 1, the administrator should hire the services of fire protection equipment engineer or technician as required by Article 8 to conduct periodic service of the fire safety equipment, and the service results shall be reported within the given time to the local fire department; the fire department shall send its official to review the service results: Provided, however, the administrator of a hi-rise or underground building shall contract a professional fire safety equipment inspection and maintenance institute permitted by the central regulating authority to perform the periodic service of fire safety equipment.
(3) For any offense against Article 9, Paragraph 1, the administrator shall be subject to a penal sum not less than NT$ 10,000 and not greater than NT$ 50,000, and be noticed for improvement within a specific period of time. In case of any absence of correction, the administrator could be punished for each offense.
(4) For places other than Class A, annual inspection and reporting should be completed before December 31 each year.
It is hoped that the inspection and reporting promotion will enable administrators to become aware of their rights and obligations and gain further understanding about inspection and reporting in order to prevent being penalized.
