CPR instructions
According to statistics, the primary cause of sudden loss of consciousness, respiratory or cardiac arrest among Taiwanese people is ventricular fibrillation, therefore if cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can be administered within the golden time, successful resuscitation of a patient is very likely. However, without COR, the brain begins to sustain damage within 4-6 minutes and the survival rate of the patient begins to decline every minute. If the duration exceeds 10 minutes, irrecoverable damage will be caused to the brain, therefore it is imperative to observe the 4-6 minutes of golden time, as it is one of the key elements in increasing the patient’s survival rate.

Key points for administering CPR to an adult – Mnemonic: Compress hard and fast, wait for the chest to rebound, and repeat the process without interruption. Compression location: Center of the chest (between the nipples). Compression rate: 100-120 times per minute. Compression depth: 5-6 cm.
