Taichung Lei Kao Lions Club is passionate about public welfare – The donation ceremony took place at Longjing Branch of the Fourth District Emergency and Rescue Corps today.
To express its appreciation to firefighters, the warm-hearted Taichung Lei Kao Lions Club has especially demonstrated philanthropy in real actions. Today (the 6th), the donation ceremony took place at Longjing Branch of the Fourth District Emergency and Rescue Corps, where the equipment, including 1 infrared thermal imager and Michelin multifunctional lighting – with a total value of NTD300,000, was donated to the Branch for disaster rescue and relief. It is hoped that the equipment will enhance the firefighters’ search and rescue efficiency; reduce the casualty of firefighters; give back to society; and set a good example that attracts more warm-hearted people to join the action.
The Fire Bureau of Taichung City Government expresses that the “infrared thermal imager” donated today can convert infrared radiation invisible to the naked eye into image signals. In the past, firefighters had to search for and approach trapped people, and find the origin of the fire with bare hands in a dark and harsh environment filled with dense smoke. With the use of an infrared thermal imager, firefighters can clearly identify the point of origin, trapped persons, passages, barriers and so on. That is, they will have “infrared eyes” that enable them to see things in a dense smoke environment; locate the point of origin as early as possible to extinguish the fire; detect human body temperature; and search for trapped persons with the least amount of search time, helping to protect people’s lives and property.
President of Taichung Lei Kao Lions Club Chi Chien-san expressed that time was extremely important for saving lives at a fire scene. He said that, apart from setting an example that inspires everyone to pay attention to fire safety, this activity also showed their support and encouragement to firefighters. Director of District 300-C2 of Lions Clubs International Tang Jin-chuan also expressed his gratitude to firefighters for risking their lives at the fire scene in order to save lives. He expressed his hope that the high-tech thermal imaginer will help firefighters quickly grasp the situation in the fire scene, determine whether it is safe, and whether there are people trapped in order to save more lives.
Senior Executive Officer of Taichung Fire Bureau Shih Wen-chieh expressed his gratitude to Taichung Lei Kao Lions Club for donating equipment once again this year after last year’s donation. He said that an infrared thermal imager was definitely a good tool that facilitate firefighters’ rescue mission and expressed his gratitude to Taichung Lei Kao Lions Club for demonstrating their philanthropy and passion for public welfare in real actions. He said that their generous donation to the local fire bureau would not only benefit the village, but also facilitate frontline firefighters to implement rescue missions. Therefore, they can definitely be considered as a paragon in public welfare services as they not only enhance Longjing Branch’s firefighting and disaster rescue and relief efficiency, but also guard citizens’ lives and property together with fire bureaus.
At today’s donation ceremony, President Chi Chien-san who represented Lei Kao Lions Club donated the equipment to the fire bureau, which was represented by Senior Executive Officer Shih Wen-chieh. The disaster rescue and relief equipment was immediately distributed to Longjing Branch as its disaster rescue and relief resources.
