Kuo Chi-chang and Liao A-tsung donated an ambulance to enhance the emergency medical capabilities of Dali District

The Dali District in Taichung City is home to approximately 21,000 residents, and each month, around 300 emergency medical cases are reported in the area. The high utilization of ambulances has resulted in increased wear and tear. Today (on the 3rd), Kuo Chih-chang and Liao A-tsung, a couple from the region, generously donated one ambulance along with related medical equipment and supplies to the Fire Bureau. On behalf of the Fire Bureau, Director Sun Fu-yu expressed heartfelt gratitude for the couple’s kind-hearted donation and expressed his hope that the new ambulance and equipment will enhance the district’s emergency medical capabilities and benefit local residents.

The donation ceremony took place today at the Dali Branch of the Fire Bureau. Director Sun emphasized that, while government resources are limited, the power of the people is boundless. The donated ambulance from Kuo Chih-chang and Liao A-tsung will be immediately deployed for emergency medical missions, ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and safety. On behalf of the citizens and all members of the Fire Bureau, Director Sun expressed deep gratitude to the couple. He also expressed his hope that all sectors will collectively pay attention to Taichung City’s progress in disaster prevention and rescue works, contribute resources to firefighting and disaster relief initiative, and work together to build Taichung into a city of happiness.

The Fire Bureau pointed out that Mr. Kuo Chih-chang, aged 86, has previously served as a councilor in the Pingtung County Council, an advisor to the Executive Yuan, a policy advisor in the Taichung City Government, and the South-District mediator of Taichung City. He was also honored as the “Exemplar Father of Taichung City” and is the father of three daughters and one son. Upholding the belief that “doing good is the greatest form of learning”, Mr. Kuo and his wife, Liao A-tsung, are recognized for their philanthropic endeavors. Guided by a grateful and contented mindset, they have decided to donate a top-notch ambulance as a way to give back to the community. It is their hope that this donation will benefit more citizens in need of emergency medical assistance and that the ambulance will empower emergency medical personnel to save valuable time in providing critical care to patients before reaching the hospital.

The Fire Bureau stated that the donated ambulance donated is a Ford Tourneo Custom, which is also the Burau’s first ambulance with Battenburg markings. Battenburg markings are a high-visibility pattern that remains highly visible within the distance of 500 meters, ensuring the safety of both road users and firefighters during their operations. The ambulance is also equipped with an automatic stretcher, first aid kit, pulse oximeter, vital sign monitor, vital sign monitor, a cervical spinal immobilization device, a long spine board, and other medical and rescue equipment and supplies.

Councilors Li Tien-sheng, Lin De-yu, Huang Chia-tien and Lin Pei-han; Director of Fire Bureau Sun Fu-yu; Former councilor Li Li-hua; Chairman of Ta-Li Industrial Park Manufacturers’ Association Lin Sung-yi have all attended today’s donation ceremony. Legislator Ho Hsin-chun also dispatched representatives to join today’s event.
